Peace of mind is not an expression often associated with the trauma and emotion which can surround a broken relationship.
Even more so when disputes over the welfare of children or division of property is involved.
Geoff Walkom has been assisting clients to find peace of mind in family law disputes since 1984. He was one of the first lawyers to become accredited as a family law specialist in New South Wales.
Since establishing Walkom Lawyers at Cronulla in 2004, Geoff has continued to practise extensively in family law and de facto relationship issues.
Walkom Lawyers can assist clients in respect of:
Property disputes
Prenuptial agreements
Disputes concerning children
Child support
Spousal maintenance
Sometimes this will require Court action although we usually can achieve a negotiated outcome savings costs and hassles.
Some of the more satisfying cases in which we have been involved are:
Securing the return to Australia of children taken without permission to a European country. This involved Court action both overseas and in Australia.
Commencing a novel action in the NSW Supreme Court to enforce an informal agreement for the other party to repay a mortgage taken out to purchase our client’s home, who in return had agreed not to seek child support. Urgent Court action prevented the lender forcing a sale of the property when the other party ceased making the repayments. The case then proceeded to a final hearing which the client ultimately won.
Acting for parents whose children were abducted. In one instance the child was located living in a caravan park in Victoria and in another, the child was eventually located in a remote area in South Australia. In each instance, urgent action secured the assistance of Federal Police who located and returned the children within a short time.
A property dispute where we were successful in locating $1 million undisclosed funds in an overseas bank account.
